The creation of ArtsyNibs is rather uninteresting. It wasn’t much of a groundbreaking eureka moment, but more a – I need to make better use of my time – instance. I mean, coming from an extremely hectic lifestyle, living in Manchester has given me so much free time! It’s also never dawned on me that I could actually make stuff happen. I’m not sure where this stemmed from, but back home, I proabably wouldn’t have the time to discover my craft, let alone hone it.
So, why the name ArtsyNibs then? I’m sorry to disappoint, but I would’ve gone with ‘By Joyce Lee’ or ‘Joy Writes’ or even ‘Letters From J’ if they were available on Etsy. So there I was, staring at my laptop in utter disbelief that even the most random of names like ‘Pepper Inks’ have already been taken.
Then, it happened. The name struck me when I gazed over at that messy pile of calligraphy supplies my husband refused to put away for days. Inks, nibs, pens, art – mix them together and viola! ArtsyNibs it was and the rest is history.
Since the decision to start ArtsyNibs was made, it’s been an amazing experience albeit dotted with emotionally draining moments. But I guess that’s all part of the process, isn’t it?
